We have known the Current King and Queen for a while, and We would consider them friends.  We know that we can call them if we need help, encouragement, or an ear to listen. We have had very close personal relationships with some of the past Kings and Queens, whom we still call great friends.

Do you think that you have the ability to remove personal conflicts from Baronial matters? How would you deal with something that conflicted?

We feel that you HAVE to be able to remove all personal conflicts from Baronial matters. There has to be the separation of personal and professional matters when it comes to the barony, or else all of Our friends would have all of the awards, weather they deserved them or not. Being able to see the differences between friendship, Baronial duties, house hold obligations, or formal relationships is so very important to anyone in any sort of leadership role. If we felt that someone was turning in friends for awards undo to them, we would, and have in the past, asked those closest to the recipient, to confirm or deny the validity of the award recommendation.

Do you have knowledge of current Baronial and Canton members?  Would you say that you are actively involved with both?

We feel that we know almost all the baronial and canton members, as well as the not yet incipient canton of Oak Springs members. We are actively involved in the SCA and personal lives of many of the Baronies members, as well as some of the Canton members. We are not yet involved in the personal lives of those members in Oak Springs, mainly due to distance.

What do you view as the perks of being Baron and Baroness?  What do you think the drawbacks might be? How do you plan to deal with both of those?

Being able to award people who deserve awards is the absolute best thing about being Baron and Baroness. Seeing the look of surprise when someone name is called, the confusion crosses their eyes, followed by the look of awe as their name is read in to Court. Being able to help those that ask for it, in whatever way we are able. They might need a sewing needle, an introduction, or a shoulder to cry on. All of things are perks to being the Barona and Baroness.

We think the drawbacks are less prevalent. Someone may be having an argument with another member, or heard something they didn’t like. Dealing with persons who are upset, uncomfortable, or just not happy are never fun, but We like the challenge to helping that person find a resolution, to help that person be happy with their SCA life.

How would you describe your Baronial leadership style?

Fun. We strive to have a fun, welcoming, engaging relationship with the members of the barony.

Do you think your personality lends itself to being a leader?

We have VERY different personalities, both with pros and cons to leadership. Andrew is level headed, firm, and not incline to making rash decisions, which is helpful when it comes to making hard decisions in the barony. Kyna is quick to the draw, making decisions quickly when the time is needed. We balance each other out quite well.

Do you have any other attributes/experience that you think will make you a great leader of Namron?

Yes. Having held the office for 3 and a half years so far, We know that holding this position is not what a lot of people think. We have learned that being the Baron and Baroness is not about personal gain, having fun, or being the figurehead of a group. It is about work, dedication, and the members of the populous. We have sat with Kings and Queens, our most Noble Cousins, and peers of the realm, learning, talking, and finding out all we are able to to help our Barony be better than She already is. The best experience to help one understand the role of Baron and Baroness is being the Baron and Baroness. I don’t know that anyone is fully prepared, until they step in to the shoes, and start to learn.

HL Gaelan Garrett and Ldy. Brenna (ravon) Garrett

Why do you want to be the Baron and Baroness of Namron?

We want to be Baron and Baroness, to serve the crown as thier represenitives. To help the Barony as well as her cantons to operate within kingdom and corporate rules.

To grow in populace and bring the joy of our game to many.

What goals do you have for Namron, Skorgarrd and Oak Springs in the future?

For all 3 would be recruitment and retention as a priority.  Keeping the groups in compliance with Federal, State, Local, Corporate and Kingdom Rules.

Bring the Barony back to Kingdom Standards and Practices with the Arts and Sciences.

Removing the Label and thinking that there are 2 parts to Namron. IE;
Upper and lower namron thinking.

Bringing Oak Spring in as a Canton.

Possibly exploring other areas to start groups.

Do you think that you have the ability to remove personal conflicts from Baronial matters?

Yes

How would you deal with something that conflicted?

Should a conflict arise, our 1st duty is to the Crown and Kingdom Law.
That said we would sit in neutrality to help reach a solution. if the conflict involves infraction of Federal, State or Local Law, then the proper authority would be called as well as The Crown and the Kingdom Seneschal, and other contacts as advised by the crown or kingdom seneschal.

Do you have knowledge of current Baronial and Canton members?

We are quite familiar with members of Skorragardr.  We have some knoledge of the Barony of Namron populace. We are from Skorragardr and not considered a part of Upper Namron. Hence we do not get advised of many things going on in namron, or invited to any event.

Would you say that you are actively involved with both?

We try to be very active with Skorragardr.  But sometimes there is schedule conflicts.

As for the Barony of Namron, we have attended most events and have participated in the OU Medieval Fair for many years.

Gaelan  1997 to present
Brenna 1999 To present

What do you view as the perks of being Baron and Baroness?

To proudly represent the best barony in the kingdom of ansteorra.

What do you think the drawbacks might be?

Having to witness those who bust thier butt go unrecognized.

How do you plan to deal with both of those?

For the 1st would be to shine as a barony. Work as a team.
Bring new people into the Barony and cantons.

On the 2nd note. Sometimes a simple thank you or hey great work goes along way. But other times may warrant an award or recognition by an award recommendation to the crown.

How would you describe your Baronial leadership style?

We do not believe in the buddy system. We believe all are equal and welcome. We would include everybody in all activities.  We believe in the rules of our game. We shall follow the rules of our game.

Do you think your personality lends itself to being a leader?

Yes we do. We feel we play well with others. But should the situation warrant we can and will become the leaders necessary to get the job done.
